Future
Business Leaders of America is for high school students interested in
a business or business-related career. Find out if your school has a
chapter by asking your school administrator or a business teacher. If
your school has an FBLA chapter, all you have to do is pay your $6 annual
national membership dues (and state and local dues where applicable)
to enjoy all that FBLA has to offer.
If
your school doesn’t have an FBLA chapter, it’s easy to start
one. First, get an FBLA Chapter Organization Packet by calling the National
Center at (800) 325-2946. The packet contains step-by-step information
on how to set up your chapter and provides an overview of what FBLA-PBL
offers. To be recognized as an FBLA chapter, your chapter must be officially
chartered by your state organization.
1. Review the Chapter Organization Packet, which has all the information
you need to complete the following steps necessary to charter your
chapter.
2. Identify
an adviser and submit a proposal to your school administrator for
establishing an FBLA chapter.
3. Coordinate
a membership drive. It takes five members to constitute an FBLA Chapter.
4. Hold
an orientation meeting.
5. Elect
chapter officers.
6. Vote
on chapter bylaws.
7. Collect
membership dues.
8. Submit
a completed chartering application to the state chair.
9. Develop
a program of work for your chapter.
10.
Conduct a new officer installation ceremony.
Membership renewal information is sent out each August to all schools
that had active chapters the previous year. If your school didn't receive
this information, call the National Center at (800) 325-2946 for updated
chapter renewal procedures.
